Found a little pile of sawdust under a step and a flying ant nearby.

Is this a DIY project or do I need to call in a specialist?

Did a termite treatment upon buying the house 8 years ago and nothing since.

Could be carpenter bees. Look for a perfectly round hole under the step about 1/2 inch wide. I spoke to an exterminator about it when we had a couple of the same with our deck. He said we could try washing out and then filling the holes and then reseal the deck, but they may come back every season, in which case, we should get an exterminator.
