Can anyone please tell me approximately what temperature that steam pipes get to? The reason why I ask is I'm trying to seal around some holes where they're are pipes to reduce air movement in the home, and the people at Dow Chemical said they don't reccommend you use Great Stuff foam around heat sources greater than 240 F. Does anyone know of any other foam sealant that would work if the steam pipe temp is above the 240 F degree mark? Thanks ahead of time for any insight. Master Plumber? Anyone? |

Steam systems are low pressure, so I wouldn't think it could be much above 212 F. |
