Has anyone installed a bilco or other type of basement door recently? We are looking for a place that sells them and also for an installer.

I am referring to kind of door that is used in the Wizard of Oz when the tornado starts. Hope that makes sense.

Any input would be appreciated.

There's a place on Route 22 East, before the Burger King, on the opposite side as Popeye's/Bar/Hooters that has them sitting right on the highway. You can't miss them.

Also try going to their website and seeing where they have local dealers.

There is a company called "Gordon" who makes doors exactly like Bilco. The cost of the door will depending upon the size. You shouldn't spend more then $300.00 - $400.00 on a door.

They're made in steel or fiberglass units....

I had mine done by a company (based in LI, NY??) from an ad I saw in the NY Times four yrs ago..... [and I can't remember their d#$%m name!!]. They subbed out the installation to some local guys, I think. But they removed the old one, spruced up the base, attached the pre-primed (ready for finish coat) unit (approx. 5'x8') like a charm, works fine and the whole deal ran about $900.

There's a place on Route 22 near abouts the Petco. You'll see it as you're driving away from Babies R Us, but a 2-3 miles down the road on your right.
