First, I'd like to thank those who responded to my "Mold on Stroller" thread. The lemon juice worked! So, as I went to open the freezer door of my refrigeragtor, I noticed that the handle was burning hot! This can't be good. Any suggestions on why that is and who can fix it? Thanks. bklyngirl |

Warm might be expected in this weather, with the fridge running so much, but burning hot doesn't sound so good. Call Norman at (I think) (908) 273-4262 or (973) 564-9050. He fixed our washer and dishwasher promptly, pleasantly, and not expensive. I'm guessing he would also work on your fridge. |

Meanwhile, pull your fridge away from the wall if possible and vacuum the grates/grills on the back very well. Also, make sure there is some room for air flow on the sides and at the top. A general rule of thumb I was taught is that a full freezer works most efficiently, but a very full refrigerator does not work very efficiently. Make sure there is room for cold air to flow at the rear of the fridge and the sides. (Don't jam stuff in so it packs every inch of shelf space.) If your freezer is not already packed, it is a good idea to buy a bag of ice to help take up the unused space. It will help the refrigerator work less hard too. Good luck! |

Sounds like the "workings" may have to be vacuumed. On my fridge (GE) I remove the top panel (about 1*4) and take a vacuum to the copper coils and filter. I was told by the fridge repair man that this should be done once every couple of months when the plasitc separating the fridge from freezer feels warm. Hope that makes sense. |
