Removing rock salt or something like it?

We're not sure how often it was used or how old it was. It was housed in a large container and looks like white rock salt. It has no smell but is very damp and is now leaking onto my cement basement floor. I think the contractor will take it away for us, but not sure (and will certainly ask).
