So we have boxes of expensive Italian tile in our basement, still searching for that special someone to install it in our kitchen. But we are looking for someone to actually show up and do it, not someone to have countless phone calls and cancelled appointments. Any suggestions?

I just tiled a backsplash for a S.O. couple. I believe they are very happy with it. I WILL show up. Just ask the other MOLer's. (973.763.4726)

Tico's is phenomenal. They did a great job for me, very professional. They can do all kinds of work. The tile they did for me was exceptional - and I had a TON of tile to install...http://www.ticoscarpentry.com/

Sherri De Rose. Do you only recommend yourself and do you do it all. From what I read you started a job which you could not finish. Maybe you should stick to what it is that you know. You are not the perfect contractor, so don't try to fool the people here on MOL. And I saw you saying of a big mucka muck, what does this mean. Looks like your try to be a big contractor in this town.

Rich (and Sherri) are hard working, friendly, return calls and emails, and do very good work at a fair price. Perfect enough in my book.

Don Bates -

'From what I read...'

So this is not even first hand knowledge? Maybe before you attack somebody on the board you should consider confining it to something you experienced first hand.

Or maybe just don't attack...

Can somebody just give me some more recommendations???? There about a dozen or so people on this message board who spend countless hours a day writing "witty" commentaries and endless responses to fairly innocuous entries by others and yet I can only get 2 freakin recommendations for someone to tile a backsplash!!!! Nice!

Regarding the prior comments on this thread both Don and Pete are right. Rich and Sherri are nice people; they do overbook; stand people up and tend to monopolize the message board.

This was a recent thread about a strictly tile guy. I have no personal experience though.

Sorry, I've been away on vacation. We set tile as well as provide grout and tile restoration, and have done numerous backsplashes. I'd be glad to give you an estimate.

Thanks Brian. My wife will give you a call this week. We're kinda worried about who to hire for the job since the tile cost more than any of the appliances and it's a relatively small backsplash.
