These things happen. My immediate thought was to water frequently and wait; here's something from google:

"How do I repair yellow burn marks from too much fertilizer?"

A:
"Once the burn marks show up there is nothing you can do but replace
the grass. I would cut out the area, remove 1 inch of soil, add new
soil and seed, or sod, depending on which would blend in faster, which
is usually the seed. If you ever spill fertilizer over a small area,
rake it up and remove as much as possible, then water the area heavily
for several weeks."

I guess what I would do is swing by The Mill and have a chat with those folks; very knowledgeable and friendly.

Good luck!

I did this to a small, inconspicuous area a couple of years ago...never bothered to try the more major remedy suggested by Case and it remains next to impossible to grow even weeds there. Funny thing is that in the winter the grass emerges and is green and as soon as it gets warm that spot browns off.

A visit to the Mill is a good idea--pass on if you learn anything else.

I keep seeing "The Mill" mentioned, but I don't see it in yahoo yellow pages. Where do I find it?

You're done, my friend...prepare to reseed your yard. Just wait until the end of Sept to do it. It's too hot to plant grass now. Welcome back, btw. Another BS suspension IMHO.
