We got a new stainless steel, side by side. It came swarthed in this industrial plastic sheeting for protection. Problem is, hubby and I can't remove all the plastic from crevices, especially near the handles. It's thick like heavy trash bags, and unless you get a lead on it that threads it out, it sticks out like torn paper. Any ideas?

carefully use a matt-knive or razor knive & trim into the crevices as you remove the film. be careful not slip or you'll cut out onto the open SS surfaces.

Remove the handle. Virtually all refrigerators are set up so the door swing can be reversed by the owner and their are usually only a couple of screws holding the handle assembly on.

Reversing the door swing is not really an option on a side-by-side.

Tweezers? Chopstick? Plastic knife or spackle knife?

Kathy, dah!!

Still it would be easier to remove the handle and avoid damage than using many of the techniques mentioned here.

The delivery guys are usually supposed to remove all the packing materials - call them and ask them to come do it so you don't accidently ruin the nice stainless steel finish you probably paid extra for!

It took FOREVER for this fridge to be delivered because they consider SS a "special order", so getting them back at this point to remove plastic is moot. It was delivered almost 2+ weeks ago. I didn't think it would be an issue getting this sh*t off, but I was wrong. I tried a plastic fork and although it works a bit, all it does is just push the plastic inside the handle. Also, hubby looked at removing the handles and unless you work for the company, it's not going to happen. The handles are as long as the fridge on both doors and there's no way to unscrew them. We're screwed :-(

OK, Kibbegirl, go look at the receipt for this expensive appliance. Then pick up the phone and call the store. Ask for a manager and simply don't take no for an answer. (That's what I'd do.) Explain nicely, and calmly that you didn't think this would be as difficult to get off as it is or you would have made sure that the delivery guys removed it before they left. However, you paid a lot of money for a nice-looking stainless steel appliance to be properly installed in your lovely kitchen, and unfortunately someone has to come back to your home to get it looking as good as it did in the store where you were sold this piece of goods! Demand customer satisfaction by assuming you are due it as a matter of course.

My SS Bosch dishwasher suddenly lurched forward one recent Sunday, while I was loading it, and the bottom rack rolled right off the door and crashed onto the floor! Luckily, very few dishes broke, but I was so angry! I called the store and even though it was installed a year before, almost to the day, they had the installation guys back out here within 2 days and it is installed correctly this time (that sucker won't move without the counter being replaced.) I paid nothing for this second installation, btw.

I know you can do this! Good luck!
