So I was pottering around outside when I noticed the grounding wire attached to my electrical supply was broken. Must have been the painters. I dug around where I thought it used to be connected, but can not find it.

Question, what should it be connected to? A piece of metal buried in the soil? Does it matter how deep?

Thanks,

Hopefully an electrician will verify, but I seem to remember 2 grounding rods,6 feet apart and 8 foot deep.

Electrical ground for what? Cable, telephone, electric service? Don't fool around, call an electrician ASAP.
