Our kitchen air conditioner (Kenmore window unit) went on the fritz this morning. I called our regular appliance repair guy, but he's on vacation and Sears' home repair service can't schedule anything until next week.

Can anybody please recommend a reliable air-conditioner repair service?

Thanks!

Hate to say it but you're probably better off buying a new one. You'll probably get a good end of season price and you'll pay at least $100 for someone to come to your house.

Just had my Fredrich AC (15K BTU) unit repaired - I was told that if it is under 10K BTUs it is not worth getting repaired. It cost me $250 to get the unit repaired and I purchased a back up unit at Lowes (12K BTU) for $180 with a 5 year in house warranty.

Junk it! plus, given the weather now, you can go w/o air conditioning, right? wait a little while, shop for a replacement... you'll get a newer unit, MUCH better energy efficiency, end-of-year price, etc.
