No more at Lowe's. Anyone seen any at the Depot, Best Buy, PC Richard, or the like recently? I need two--one about 8,000 btu, the other 10,000 for through-the-wall installation. |

A couple of weeks ago Home Depot had a boat load, even with the heat wave we were experiencing. |

Chains such as Karl's, Circuit City and Best Buys probably have plenty in their warehouses. |

Stay clear of Lowes. While the Fridgeidair brand comes highly recommended by consumer reports, the noise level is high. |

Just picked two up at PC Richard, where even the salesperson told me not to buy the Frigidaires he had due to the noise. And just in case anyone else is looking, there are no more at Home Depot, either. |

The unit you're installing through the wall, is it replacing an existing wall unit? Or are you having this done now. If it's an existing one, you have my sympathy. If you currently do not have a wall unit, DON'T DO IT!!! You're better off staying with window units, then saving up for central. My house came with a wall unit. It's old and outdated, but I'm stuck with it until I can find one the EXACT same size to replace it, plus in the winter cold air seeps in. When we eventually upgrade to central, having that hole patched up isn't going to be cheap. |

Frigidaire models, including the ones at Lowes, unfortunately are made in China, and are the worst pieces of dreck in the world. I am awaiting my second replacement, and they want to replace my five year bumper to bumper warranty with a one year, which is not fair. BUY AMERICAN!!!! |
