Must have too much time on my hands...anyway, it feels to me like it's too warm in our fridge. It's a Kenmore Elite. A little full at the moment. Just turned the dial up to "7" (goes from 1-7). I vacuum behind it pretty regularly, and try to keep the front platic grill free of dust, dog hair. Just pulled that stuff off and ran the vac nozzle inside to get any clumpy stuff (coils are underneath). Now, I'll try to leave it alone. Put the porch thermometer inside. I see from elsewhere that it should be like 38 degrees in there. Yes, it gets opened too much during the day so I guess I should wait overnight? Any more immediate test? Freezer is fine. It's a 2-door, freezer on top, fridge on bottom. Has icemaker, but that's it. Thanks very much |

Our fridge has vents in the back of the freezer that we need to keep clear so the entire fridge will cool properly. Maybe yours is the same? It may be something you want to check in your owners manual. Jolynn |

Nope. In the end, I called Sears and bought a 3 year warranty, which will get me a repair person Tuesday, and labor/parts. It seemed to me my least expensive/most ready option and I've had their warranties before. The doors is well sealed. The icemaker is also not making ice (icecream hard, etc.). I dumped a thawed/refrozen block of it from the plastic bucket it drops into this morning. The fridge itself is about 60 inside, per the outdoor thermometer. The coils are clean, the fan is whirring/going 'round. I read a lot online between my post and now. I do see a small amount of condensation/water drops on the ceiling of the inside of the fridge. I was reading about various relay switches that can go south, and wonder if it's not that, especially as it's a self-defroster. I do recall, a week or so ago when it was, that it seemed to me that the fridge was giving off more than usual heat. Life is busy here, tho, and unless something actively blows up, I don't follow up. We don't have central a/c, kitchen is small, so its generally warmer in there than the rest of the house. Meanwhile, brought out an ice chest, threw out the milk etc., put some stuff in the freezer. 'Bout all I can think to do. |
