Wondering if we can replace our huge radiators with something smaller and less obvious? We have steam heat.

Yup. They can push them into the walls.

Pushing them into the walls, although you do get more floor space, causes you to heat the outside as the new radiator has its back to the outside wall sheathing.

Not good. In the winter I can go outside and feel how nice and warm the areas where my radiators are.

Darren, one half-inch of insulation behind that radiator is all it would take to keep that from happening.

Goalinmind, there are plenty of radiators available.
Try these: http://www.steamradiators.com/

Well, they definitely did NOT put it behind my radiators. I don't see any way of being able to pull them out either. So, I guess I have to live with it.

How much does it cost to push a radiator back into the wall (with insulation of course)?
