Pintona did work for us, and they were very hardworking, fast and honest. I like them a lot. Make sure you are communicating very clearly about what you want. Prices are good, too. |

never used pintona but jorge has done a bunch of stuff and been perfect: on time, neat, clean, thorough and reasonably priced. personally, i like dealiing with the people who are doing the work whenever possible, which to me is another plus for jorge. |

Actually, if they're already doing your exterior, they may do interior work for you. Rutgers did some interior painting for us while they were painting the outside of our home. That was a few years back though, so I don't know if their policies have changed. |

William, who owns World of Color, used to work for Rutgers. He left to start is own company, which I highly recommend by the way. They have done several jobs for us with excellent results. |

I haven't used them yet, but I recently called four places to get quotes for a smallish job (two bathrooms) I am having done. World of Colors was prompt, courteous, and their estimate (faxed over the same day) was extremely reasonable. Vayas was here nearly a week ago and I have yet to get an estimate by phone or fax. Other two guys never called me back. Guess who I recommend so far?

I was ripped by one of the two you listed. I will not say which one. Have you considered using Two Guys or JGBerkeley? Both have done fine work for me with craftmanship much better than the two you listed. |

MW ... if you feel you were 'ripped' by one of the two companies in the post ... it might help the rest of us to knoow the particulars. . . . I don't know about World of Colors, but EVERYTHING I've heard about Rutgers was good ... and I wish I'd had them paint the house last year ... problem was, I was a little too late in the season and needed paint before snow ... Richard, I will not share in the details but I will suggest this. Shop price but plan to pay more than the lowest bid. Make very sure you are working with someone in business and has a business license. Make sure that the person has Insurance. Make sure!! They will cost more but in the long run cost you less. The guy working out of his truck using day labor may sound cheap but you may end up with my problem. One of the day labor guys hurt himself while working on our house. I still have lawyers, and doctors sending me bills and things. The guy I hired, not his problem but has suggested that if I pay $2,000 all will go away.

Jorge & his guys just finished some painting for us. I found him to be easier to work with than World of Colors. His prices were comparable and possibly a bit lower. |

I'm a World of Color and Pintona fan. WOC has done some painting jobs and is about to take on my whole second floor and kitchen. Pintona has done many smaller jobs (non-painting) and have been great. |

I don't Know, but I think you have to consider what you are getting for that estimate. What happened to me once is, I got two estimates for painting 2 bedrooms, one was much higher than the other, so I took the lowest and while the job was getting done, they were not doing much prepwork, not even sanding the walls or fixing cracks, they did minor repairs and painted. When I asked them to do more fixing, they said that job is going to take more time to do, so they were asking for more money also. I heard good things about Jorge Mera, like he does good quality job, like good prepwork and finished painting nicely. I am going to get an estimate from this guy.

We used World of Colors last spring. They did a fantastic job of removing several layers of wallpaper and painting. They even lengthened several doors that had been previously cut down to accomodate now-gone carpeting. Because of all the labor, it wasn't too cheap, but we'd definitely use them again. |

Basically, they measured how far down the door needed to go, then took the door off the hinges, sanded off paint, etc. and glued on a small piece of wood to fit (cut at the worksite). Put the door back on the hinges to make sure the door wasn't too long (in one room, the floor was a bit uneven, requiring some sanding on an edge), then some more sanding to even out the surface, followed by painting, and voila! I can't even tell! |
