just had PSEG here to look at my boiler. i have needed to restart it several times over the last week. turns out, it is cracked and on its way out. it is a burnham and is only 15 years old. anyway, need to replace it very soon.

has anyone dealt with PSEG for purchase and installation?

any other recommendations? thanks.

PSE&G is top dollar on purchase and installation. I'd stay away from them and use an independent.

Find someone who installs Burnham boilers (Gateway for instance) .... at 15 years there may be some relief to your pocket by Burnham under the original product warranty. (Boilers should generally last MUCH longer.)

thanks, jeff and richard.
we got several estimates on monday -- PSEG was the highest -- they offer 12 month no interest financing, so that may be why they are high.
we used Falcon Plumbing & Heating, Bloomfield, who did the job well and for a very reasonable price.

Viva,

One more suggestion ... goto www.heatinghelp.com and order the book (about 20 bucks) "We Got Steam Heat" ....

I think you'll find it a great reference on how to live with your new boiler and keep it running top notch between regular service calls.
