I've received a rash of questions about Hot Water heaters and problems.

Most have turned out to be nothing except very cold water on the supply side.

Consider this, I had to drain clean and refill my hot tub this weekend. 550 gallons of fresh water from the water system. When it filled it was so cold, I could not stick my arm in to install the filters. The water measured, 36 degrees. That is a lot of cold water!!

Now consider a 40 gallon hot water tank set to 120 degrees, you pull 10 out for a shower, and 10 gallons of this water fills in and mixes.

How hot do you think the water will be?

BTW, the hot tub is back to 102 and doing fine.

Later,
George

Don't you wish you could have waited for the warmer weather to refill your tub? There'd be so much heating energy available for free!
