Can anyone suggest an honest company in our area to pave my driveway? (There's a guy that drops by every summer unsolicited who happens to have extra asphalt and offers to give me a good deal if he can do it that afternoon - not sure that's the best way to go). Thanks in advance! |

Giordano Construction 973-374-7536 In the late fall early winter I got estimates from them and 4 other companies, they are not the cheapest but I think the best, they are scheduled to do our driveway in April. I got their name from a number of folks on MOL

Cannuck, Actually, I think that's a great way to get a good deal -- as long as you check out the other work he has done. Just ask him if you can look at the other driveway he just completed (presumably that's why he has extra asphalt). I often get contractors for smallish jobs by approaching workmen who are already doing work in the neighborhood. |

Cannuck, that is exactly how I happened on WB Paving ... and they ended up doing my drive for a very nice price ... and then about three others on my street. I was very pleased with the quality of the work (which included some grading/dirt removal) and the finished product. Richard (ROC) --Never be afraid to try something new. Last summer Frank from Evans Roofing and Paving fed me the same story, i.e., extra tar, would give me a good deal. The price was $250 so I said ok and he had to stop about half an hour into the job because he said my driveway was too wet. He's been ignoring my calls ever since. Needless to say, I would not work this way again. |

I can also recommend Giordano, they repaved our driveway last spring for a very reasonable price, and so far we're nothing but pleased with the results. |

I had a very bad experience with Giordano. I received a quote from him in the spring and then for 4 months he kept putting off the job. It rained a lot last summer so we gave him the benifit of the doubt. Finally, the day he was supposed to show up he just disappeared into thin air. I never heard from him again, even though I called him every day that week and then once a week for 4 to 5 weeks. It was very weird! As you might imagine we are still looking for someone to do our driveway. If anyone knows someone else, please let me know. |

I used the same guy a couple of years ago who drives around with extra asphalt. Good price and the job has held up well. |
