Hi,
I just received some wonderful old furniture that was my grandmother's. Several of the pieces need restoration, repair, reupholstery etc...

I tried getting ahold of the "Furniture Medic", but his number has been disconnected and he hasn't returned my emails.

Does anyone know if he's gone out of business? It seems like I saw his van recently.

Also, I did a search for reupholstery in this category and came up with Ultimate Upholstery. I have scheduled an appt with them. Does anyone have any further recommendations? I would like to get at least a few other estimates.

Thanks!

Lewis furniture refinishers in Chatham. They did a great job on a chair I had done.

Be careful about refinishing. If the furniture is antique, refinishing will probably diminish the value.

Good advice bobk!! There's a reupholsty place on Valley (around the corner from Roland) - I forget the name.. but he's done excellent work on some of my mother-in-law's antiques. You can choose from his fabric or bring your own.

That's Ultimate Upholstery. I recently recommended them as did a bunch of people. You can get another estimate from Terminal Mill Ends in Union but I found them very expensive. I think also Calico Corners does upholstery.
