I'd like to plant raspberry and blackberry bushes in my backyard. Any suggestions on how to do this? When should I plant them? How much sun do they need?

Beware of the deer, depending on where you live I would think that they would attract them.

we planted two years ago and got a small crop last year and hope to have a big one this year. they need a fair amount of sun. we did blueberries as well, which are well suited to our acidic soil. we got all our plants at the great swamp nursery out past chatham. they have great stuff and it's a cool place to cruise out to to boot. go for it.

If you like Blueberry bushes they are very easy as well. They need lots of sun and when the berries start to grow you need to cover with netting to prevent the birds from feasting on them. We harvested then every summer in our PA house and would rinse and then freeze them. Then we could enjoy them all year long.
