I need a second oponion on my boilers, I have a 2 family with separate mechanicals. I've been told that the boilers, both, are failing because there is scale on the cast iron heat exchangers, no leaks, just scale that they vacuum away when they service them. They are oil fired steam, about 15 years old. Can anyone recomend a second oponion who I can trust? There are so many "gee lady..." contractors out there.

Thanks.

I 100% trust Gateway Plumbing and CT Williams. But, you will have a much easier time reaching a live person or getting a call back from Gateway.

Gateway is good, I'd also call Ken Secor (Palmer Plumbing) at 732 388-1794

Unless very abused and never maintained I find it hard to believe 15 year old boilers would need replacement.

Essex Oil has services them for the last 2 years and told me that they need to be replaced. We bought the property 1.5 years ago, and the tennant who lived here in one side, told me that they had been serviced except for the last year before we bought the property. It does seem to me that they should last longer, but hey I'm a girl and what do I know about boilers? Hence the second, or third, opinion.

Call Carmine Grecco @ 973-378-9028.

He replaced my boiler four years ago, and his price was reasonable. I had a problem a few weeks ago which I couldn't find by myself, and he was here the following morning to take care of it. And the charge was far less than TS and I had expected.

Regardless of who you wind up using, have a few plumbers come in to give you an estimate.

If you want more information, or a specific reference for Carmine, send me a private message with your telephone number.

Good luck.

TomR.
