The website for the State of New Jersey contains weekly reports on various prices of home heating oil. Here is the link: http://www.state.nj.us/bpu/PetroliumInfo/weeklyPetrolium.shtml It looks like the average price in New Jersey is about $2.09 per gallon, which was a rise of about 6 cents over the previous week. Your local oil company can purchase a gallon for $1.47, so they mark the price up about 40% before it gets to your home. Someone on MOL recommended www.discountoil.net. Has anybody had experience with them? Also, has anyone had experience in calling their local oil company (ie: Mitchell Supreme) and telling them that they will order from discountoil.net, and using that fact as a way to reduce their oil prices? Thanks, Marc @ millburnweb.com

I was wondering the same thing. Anyone??? Also, does your tank insurance become null and void if you get OIL from another source?

Melicious, in the case of the Petro CARE program (at least), they won't cover the tank unless you get your oil from them. Re: oil prices, this won't help much this winter, but it's definitely worth locking in a low price next July -- mark your calendar now!! |
