The time has come my friends to change the shingles on the roof (UGH!) Know of any reliable & reasonably priced contractors?

We just got a new roof from Carlito's Roofing and Gutter service.

They did the roof including new plywood on the house, the garage, new gutters and added insulatation to the roof in 3 days. His guys worked hard and fast. And they were able to do it kind of last minute, since we found a leak in our roof and needed it done before the winter.

They also took care of the permit and dumpster, which they picked up on a Saturday, just hours after they were done with the work.

Carlito's number is 201-991-4988 (Cell: 201-214-5346).

We had great luck with R&G, which put a new roof on our house when we moved in during February of this year. (This is also a good time of year to get a new roof, as you'll get a bargain.)

We got estimates from a half dozen roofers, and all seemed professional and had good recommendations here. R&G's estimate was $2,000 below our next-lowest bid, and they did a great job. They ended up doing our detached one-car garage for no extra charge. Ours was a fairly big job, requiring a full tear down and new plywood. They did the whole thing in two days.

We liked the work so much we had them back to do some significant carpentry work in our garage, and also to do a big chunk of our kitchen remodel. Their workers are very careful, and the owners are great to work with.

If you want to see some of their handiwork, it's not too hard to find R&G signs dotting the town, even now. They're doing a few roofs in Montrose right now, I know.

We used Scott's Roofing and were very pleased with their work. We had three layers of shingles on the roof when we bought the house, and they did a tear-off and reroof for $4,800.

Scott's did some very nice work for me a year or two back - new rubber on the flat roof over my Maplewood room. When I called them 6 months later to talk about an ice dam problem, they promptly dropped off the face of the planet.

Looking to re-do the main roof on the house this year (complete tear-down, new plywood, etc) and got a great quote from R&G right before Thanksgiving. I was hoping to have it done before winter set in for real and they told me they were still scheduling for 2004, but I've now spent the last month trying to get them to set a date with no luck whatsoever...

My $.02 YMMV

$4,800 is pretty much a steal. Scott's estimate for our house -- a rather traditionally shaped colonial -- was $13,000. R&G did it for $8,500, and I got the impression it was because it was the dead of winter and they were desperate for work. (They came out the very next day to start.)

Does anyone have a contact number for R&G. I can't find them listed anywhere.
