I posted last week about a broken dryer, and thanks to everyone for advice. We have a new dryer and are working on getting it hooked up.
Question is about venting- we purchased new rigid vent pieces (we'd had flexible metal before, but I know rigid is supposed to be better) The dryer is fairly close to the outside wall, which already has a hole cut out and a louvered vent outside. We can get the pieces of rigid vent duct to connect up to the outside. But the outlet on the dryer is a few inches lower than the hole that's already in the wall, by a few inches, and over about a foot or so.
Should I be venting out from the dryer, then straight up until the vent is level with outside hole, then over again (using a couple of elbows), or can I sending the vent out from the dryer and over towards the vent at a slight incline, until it's level with outside and then use an elbow to go straight out? I know I should use as few elbows as possible.
So, Is "straight up to level and over" better than a gradual incline?
I hope I'm clear, this isn't a complex issue. In all there's probably no more than 3-4 feet of vent involved to get to the outside.
