My unfinished basement needs to be sanitized. In the past few weeks we have had rats, and now a sewage back up. There are no actual messes to be cleaned, just a general scrubbing/sterilizing of the floor and a couple of crawl spaces. Does anyone know of a company/person that would do this type of cleaning? Since I'm grasping: does anyone know of a 'green' company that would do this toxin-free? As always, many thanks for any assistance. -las

Chlorine beach is cheap and effective at sterilizing, but it's not exactly "toxin-free". What do you have in mind? |

Weekends - My husband wants us both to go down with bleach and mops, but I want this to be thorough, and no matter what kind of hazmat outfit I wear I'll be too skeeved to do a proper job. Maybe toxin-free wasn't the best word choice - I'd prefer something that won't harm the environment, but mostly something without a strong chemical stench. Meantime, I'll call ServePro - thanks Local. |

I used a a few gallons of scentless bleach (or scented bleach) mixed with water, and some really cheap (like $1.99) cotten mops from Foodtown to do my basement this summer after a backup out of that dang toilet in the basement. After seeing the props for Gateway Plumbing here on Maplewood Online, I gave them a call and they came out shortly afterwards and snaked the pipe from and opening in my basement to the street, don't remember the price off hand, but I remember it was cheaper than I had expected. Anyway, back to the bleach, I mopped everything up and scrubbed the floor good with the mops. I dumped the collected "nasty water" into the drain and when I was finished with a mop I bent the cheap metal handle and put it in a trash bag for Friday pickup. Had it all done and was still able to make it to my class on time that afternoon. |
