Is this something I can connect to the boiler that is being used by my steam radiators or would I have to install another water heating device to heat the conduit?

We had to put in another small boiler, but it runs off of our hot water heater.

Ask MasterPlvmber. I know his brother (here in Maplewood, also owner of plumbing company) has installed radiant floor heating in his bathroom and possibly a few other rooms.

You can use your steam boiler.

Dave, I thought you couldn't use your steam boiler if it was also used for heating your hot water for showering, drinking etc.

Sportsnut, You can't mix your domestic hot water with radiant or baseboard heat because of the bacteria that builds up in the radiant tubes or heat piping (especially during the summer) which, when the water circulates, mixes with your dishwashing and showering water. Legionnaire's disease has been linked to what is referred to as "open systems" such as this. I am referring in my previous post to circulating the boiler water after properly tempering it to the lower temps required for radiant -OR- using the tankless coil, provided it is NOT being used for domestic hot water also. Sorry I wasn't clearer.

Excellent, thanks.

I have a hot water heater and a boiler.
So if I was to install all the conduit myself and hire a plumber to make the connection to my boiler, does anyone have any idea what something like this would cost? Ballpark only. Hundreds? Thousands?

Also, is radiant floor heating more efficient than radiators (I am assuming it is). Basically I am toying around with the idea of running the conduit underneath all of my first floor floors and taking out the radiators. Is this a horrible idea?

Also again, what exactly is a mapleroom? Is that my room off of the living room that is mostly windows, doesn't have a full basement or a second story above it? This room is SUPER cold in the winter. Id nothing else I would like to heat the floor in this room.

Thanks!
