Anyone have recommendations for a good/reliable electrician. I am looking to have some (perhaps) all of the house rewired. I have used Stacey Electrical and they were fine but I am looking for better than fine. Any recomendations? Thanks - Adam |

I used Adam Electric in Montclair to wire our third floor. I thought they were very good. Honest and hard workers. |

For what it's worth, we used Stacey when we had our kitchen done. When the town inspector came to look at the work, he asked who had done it. When we told him it was Stacey, he said that in that case he didn't even need to look at it and signed off on it. I don't know how much better than that you're looking for. |

Thanks for the input. I guess it just depends upon who the contractors send over. I will give Adam Electric a call. |

Adam Electric did a lot of work for us, but there was significant overbilling (eg, sending 2 guys to to a 1-guy job and then billing for both of them). My husband would call and they would cut the bill w/ no problem (makes you wonder if it's some kind of tax deal?). Also, sometimes they would cancel at the last minute with lame excuses ("someone else took the big ladder") when it was really that the owner deployed them to a commercial job. They did good work and I trust their technical judgment, however. |

Okay, third here for Barnett (Barry). He did work for us when we first moved here a few years ago and he was great - efficient, friendly and very reasonable, (btw I am the daughter and sister of electricians, fwiw). Best of luck jml |

I've been using MGM properties. Monica the electrician is VERY thorough and detailed. She is also on time and has a good group of guys who work with her. It may be a cliche that if a woman is going to work in a man's field she has to work twice as hard and be twice as good, but with Monica I think that she is that good. |

Another vote for Barry from Barnett. We had him install floodlights over our long, steep driveway when we moved in and he must've come back 4 times to "reset" the angle for the floods becuase cars off the street were triggering them due to the shape of our driveway. And he showed up in less than an hour one late Friday afternoon when our chandelier fell from our ceiling and was habging precariously by wires. Very reasonable prices and excellent work. |

Great recommendations above....we used Ken Altman, who was reasonable, timely, and did terrific work. His contact info is easily found on this board. Got a bid from Craig Bradley, which was same price as Ken. (Craig also has good reputation) but he was booked out for 2 months. |

I just used Ore Electric based on recommendations on this board (see Greenetree's renovation blog). We needed to change our panel and upgraded our service at the same time. Very easy to work with. |

Just had Barry at Barnett do several things - he came when he said he would, returned calls, was neat and tidy & pleasant to work with. |
