We are thinking of putting wall-to-wall carpeting over our Pergo floor in our family room. Would we need to take up the Pergo or can the carpet be installed right over it? Any recommendations one way or the other? |

How much does a laminate floor move around? I know it "floats" -- so that could be a problem. Also, arn't the tack strips for a wall to wall carpet usually nailed into the floor? Then the Pergo wouldn't be able to move. My hunch is that would not be good for your new carpet! Pete |

I agree with Pete. Floated floors have to have room to expand and contract. Nailing tack strips through the floor could lead to the Pergo buckling. |

Thanks for the input. I got similar opinions from two contractors...so it looks like the Pergo will have to go if we want the carpet. |
