Has anyone had a garden window installed in their house? Any recommendations? |

They look great but will create the biggest cold air draft you could imagine if you don't get a top of the line unit and even then you can feel the cold air. |

Mine doubles as an extra refrigerator. I would not recommend one. |

Have either of you had these installed recently, or were they already there when you bought your house? I would like to think that newer window models might be better insulated. I would love to have one installed, but now I don't know. Any other thoughts? |

We are remodeling our kitchen and I originally wanted a garden window. My architects convinced me that both practically (I'm under 5' and couldn't reach all the way in) and aesthetically (it is basically a big bump on your house) it wasn't a great option. So they boxed out a regular window deeper than normal so I can have a deep sill and I am going to add a glass shelf so I can put herbs on the window. |

I installed mine about 13 years ago.The ones today are better but not great. Too cold in the winter and turns the kitchen into a greenhouse in the summer.Just my experience. |
