Yuck.

Very bizarre - the sink water in our upstairs bathroom really smells. But no where else in the house. Weird. Does anyone know what this is from or how to treat it? Thx!

Is the sink used daily? We have a house in florida and the house is unoccupied for months at a time. When we turn the water on when we get there a horrible smell and black water comes out of the pipes. We called the water company and they told us its because the water sits in the pipes for a long time. It smells like rotten eggs.

Is it the water or the smell of the water coming from the trap? We have a glass shower that the sun bakes on all afternoon through the roof window and periodically, we get an odor from the trap which is very long. Soap and scum builds up on the PVC piping and the sun brings out the worst. We pour some bleach down the sides and even go after it with a bottle brush if needed. Works for us!

Since this is the only sink that stinks I would try Up's suggestion and I would also clean the strainer on the outlet. Both may be clutching at straws, but worth a try.

My shower smells like rotten eggs a lot as well. Fortunately I have had a cold since the fall and can't smell it right now. But when I can I pour a little baking soda in the drain and wash it down with vinegar. Better for the environment that bleach. I have to do it about twice a month. And I found out about the bs/v from MOL!
