My front walkway and stairs are in terrible condition and need to be replaced. Can anyone recommend a mason for the job?

Avellino Masonry 908-879-8699

They did our front steps and sidewalk. Great job - fast and professional too.

We had our steps and walkway done, too. I got a few estimates-Avellino came in the highest (I was impressed by his professionalism and showy book of jobs). We ended up using E.A. DeSantis from South Orange and were very happy. I had looked on MOL and found him. I used Bluestone for the walk and he matched my old steps with the same Mica rock which was in keeping with my original house material.

I can relate. We HAD to get ours done because my friend almost fell on her face after getting her shoe heel caught in between the crumbling brick steps. Luigi Construction (MOL advertiser) gave us slate steps with multi-color brick and broke up our outdated curved concrete walkway and laid down matching pavers. Luigi is a really great guy - they also planted some evergreen trees in the back for us.

I also had my front steps and walkway replaced by Luigi. I called several masonry contractors to get estimates and several of them came in very high and others didn't even bother to return my call. Luigi was very diligent in following up with me and even took me to a home where he had done the same thing I needed. I got to see his work and talk with the homeowners who were very satisfied. Luigi came in with the lowest price which included the fabrication and installation of the wrought iron railings. The other estimates I got which were higher didn't include the railings which would have run an additional $600-800. He also replaced the walkway with pavers and repeated the same paver pattern in the top landing of the steps - very nice job.

Luigi did the same for us. He took the time to have us follow him to TWO homes where he did work.

Do you know if Luigi does drainage work? We need to extend our existing drain in the backyard pond a few feet further (15-20) & want to put a patio there. One of my problems is that I can't find a do-it-all person. They either build the patio or put in the drain. But not both.

We had Birch Hill in Millburn redo our crumbling cement front steps. They put in wonderful natural-looking stone steps that look like they're as old as the house (without being crumbly). They also fixed lots of drainage issues for us (rerouting downspouts, grading). Did a great job.

Greenetree -

Express Landscaping in Chatham probably does it all. He did our retaining wall, but he did a much more extensive project (retaining walls, flagstone patio, drains) for a friend in SO.

Greentree...

Magaletta (Matt) Landscaping did our backyard pavers, and did a great job on re-grading the yard. We always had a swamp after it rained. Now it drains off and down the driveway, and to drainage pipes and to the street. Your neighbors accross from you use him for yard maintenance.

I second Birch Hill. They did our front steps, walkway, driveway and front yard and it looks great! I am very happy with the quality of their work.
