Some poor misguided sole ran over much of my foundation planting and my yew hedge in the wee hours of this morning, uprooting a number of the plants. Is it possible to replant the uprooted shrubs and have them survive or is there some kind of mulch or top soil I could throw down on them? The problem is compounded by the several inches of snow which have fallen on them during the morning burying the uprooted ends. Thanks. |

I would suggest putting down a bag of topsoil or potting soil (if you can't find topsoil) over the roots (cover them completely) and covering it with a thick mulch of leaves. As long as the roots or trunk aren't broken to smithereens, you might be able to straighten them in the early spring and get the roots back in place. |

You might want to cover the hedges' stems and roots with burlap, tied with string, to insulate and protect against wind. Best of luck! Sorry that happened. |
