What kind of repair do you need?

Some of the old caulking is rotted out or falling off around the tiles and along the tub. Needs to be cleaned up.

Buhinc-

This is so easy even I do it in our bathroom. We have old, gross tile, so I do it every 3 or 4 years. I'm pretty much bandaging it until we do a gut job this fall.

I'm sure that the pros or more skilled DIYers will jump in with much better ideas, but here is what I do:

Make sure the tub is completely dry. Pull out all of the old stuff all the way around with a pair of neddlenose pliers. get a tube of bathtub cault & one of those cault gun squeezy things. Go all the way around the tub in an even, thick bead. make sure the caulk touches both the wall and the tub. Then, using your finger, smooth it along, pressing gently so that it goes into the spae between wall and tub. Take a damp sponge or rag and wipe away excess. Let dry thoroughly before using the tub.

This may be one of those small jobs that it is hard to get someone to do.

Thanks -
Yeah, that is probably what I am going to do. Thanks for the help!

From your posts it looks like you also have a problem with the grout that is in the cracks between the tiles on the walls.

This should also be repaired. A handyman might be a good choice if you don't want to tackle this yourself.

I have to revise my prior post.

I would use needlenose pliers and caulk instead of neddlenose and cault.

I have a bit of trouble with that, but probably not enough to warrant a big bill from someone to fix it. I'll give it a shot myself.
And too late, greenetree. I already bought the neddlenose and cault.

If you are a messy diy-er (like me):
Put a strip of tape above and below where you want the caulk to go. Leave a very thin/narrow opening between the tape. Squeeze out the caulk between the tape. Flatten the caulk with your (wet) finger. Let dry for a couple of hours and carefully remove all tape. You'll end up with a very uniform/neat line of caulk surrounding the tub.

As far as the grout is concerned buy a grout saw for less than $10 at Home Despot and use it to remove the existing grout before regrouting.

There are a ton of DIY websites that show you how to apply grout.
