We are considering installing a chimney fan after a long winter of smoky fires, but it seems rather expensive. We are wondering if it is worth spending the cash and if it makes a real difference in fixing smoke problems. |

Is there something wrong with your chimney? I assume you've had it checked out by some professionals. Gateway Plumbing & Heating |

It smokes like there is no tomorrow. Yes, we had a highly recommended person come out and look at it - he thought the chamber is too small and the chimney is a bit too narrow for the size of the box. One of his suggested fixes was a chimney fan (a smoke guard will only marginally improve the problem, as the front of the fireplace is an uneven bricked archway). Any suggestions? |

I'd be curious too about your results with a chimney fan. We also had the same assessment and did the smoke guard route, but it doesn't completely solve the problem. Have you had it costed out on a fan? |
