Is there going to be a bulk pick up this spring? There was nothing in the Leaflet, although there was pool info. I never seem to think of it durning the week in time to call the town offices and there is nothing on the town website.

Anyone know? (I've got a basement full...)

I'd like to know, too. I seem to recall that last summer when they announced there'd be no Fall pickup, they said there'd be one in Spring. I'm counting on it!

I believe there will be a spring pick up. I think the town went out to bid already and are awaiting dates.

Tonight the TC approved a resolution to authorize the resumption of bulk pick-up. The spring schedule should be available soon.

Is that for one pickup or two during the year?

(I'm actually not that concerned if it is only one, but I'd like to know before the first one so that I know how hard to work on getting everything out.)

There will be a spring and a fall pick-up. The spring pick-up will be available to all residents. The fall pick-up will be for residential customers of Waste Management.

I guess that means some residents are not customers of Waste Management. I never knew that. How does that work?

Oh wait. Maybe it means if you don't pay a WM bill, i.e. you are a tenant, then you are not a customer. But I hope you can clarify.

Thanks for answering, Ken!

Mixed use buildings (residential plus commercial) for example may use a commercial service for the entire building in which case they may not be using WM.

One's area for bulk is same as for leaves? Just was looking at the map in the last Leaflet on line. Looks like Parker/Warren is 5 (it's been a year so I forget!)

The bulk pick-up areas are the same as for leaves. Everyone will be receiving notices in the mail shortly and there will also be ads in the news record beginning with next weeks issue.

Maggie-Could you not put all the stuff in your garage before you leave and then have a neighbor or pay some HS kids to put it out for you?

yes, bgs ... of course we could, and probably will try to arrange something on that order, thanks. it just seems that a bit more forethought could have gone into scheduling the upcoming bulk pick-up, e.g., at least not having it on any day during recess week.

Maggie- I imagine that a lot of thought has to go into the planning when there are 12 or 14 or is it 18? districts that have to be picked up...
Am sorry that it comes at a bad time for some...I guess with my offspring out of school I do not even think of the recess week.....
Perhaps they could have skipped recess week...maybe that should be suggested for future years....Hope things work out for you!

Hi KAP:

Can you clarify one thing? The map of the different zoned areas on the town website is slightly different from the bulk pick-up/spring rakeout map/flyer that we received in the mail this week. I'm not sure if we're in area 6 or 8! Depending on the map, we're either on the Northeast corner of area 8 or the west end of area 6.

Can you clarify which map is the correct one?

The one in the mail is the correct map for this bulk pick up.

For anyone NOT traveling it's actually easier to have the pick-up done during the break when there's a little more time available. Less homework, more kid energy for helping, etc. So, it's really just a matter of perspective. Probably if you weren't going away you'd be happy to have it that week.

actually, in my case, it's not a matter of having more time available during recess week than any other week to get the bulk pick-up together. my kids are older and we'd be working full-time, if we weren't going away. my comment was just one resident's disappointed voice regarding the scheduling in our area. no big deal, really.
