Do I correctly recall that there was talk of our Public Works Deaprtment collecting allowed materials from Township residents for transfer to, and disposal at, the Cedar Grove facility? Is it going to happen? If I'm incorrect in my recollection and it was just wishful thinking by somebody with whom I spoke, such is life. I can deal with it. Thanks for any information. TomR |

TomR, Sorry, you were misinformed. We can not act as a transfer station for these materials because they are considered Hazardous and it would require us to have a Hazardous Materials Trasporter's license. If you as an individual transport just what you generate then you don't need the license. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 973-762-1175. Eric Burbank |

I went to the Essex County Hazardous Waste in Cedar Grove today. I don't know why, but got such a kick out of it. And a goody bag, too! Haven't looked in it yet. Anyway, all those $#(*& lawn chemicals I've had for years & couldn't get rid of are now gone. Just watch, next week someone will post "Got any spare malthion?" in Home Fixit. |

A goody bag? Pray tell us what's in it. I assume it's some reinforcement for people to continue doing the right thing and not flush, dump or otherwise dispose of hazardous wastes inappropriately. Reminds me of the time many years ago when I was with some friends making a big trip from Colorado south to New Mexico across to LA up to SF and back to Colorado in our 10 days off from school. We stopped at the Painted Desert I think and toured with our car. When the guard asked us upon leaving if we took anything we honestly said no. He then gave us three small rocks which he said were from there as a token of thanks for not taking things on our own. Go figure.

The goody bag had lots of Joey D stuff in it (magnet clip for the fridge, Invitation to Computer Recycling Day, and some bookmark for EUCA) all brought to you by Joey D! |

Shucks, I was going to go, but didn't get around to it and we really need refrigerator magnets since we can't find our old ones since we moved. Might have even got to meet the Green Monster. |

Darn, I missed the notice that it was last Saturday. Is the Hazardous Waste drop off only once-a-year? Thanks. Marty |
