Does anyone know where the schedule for this is? There is widespread confusion about the dates in our area (10). I checked the township website -- but the recycling brochure appears to be several years out of date. It used to be on Mondays. Now, you never know when... |

I just received Waste Management's bill for that and will give you the information that's on it. Phone number: 800.371.7329. Send check to Waste Management Attention Newark Billing Department 107 Silvia Street, Ewing, NJ 08628. Total fee for 5 and 1/2 months service is $58 - $52 for seniors. This is an optional program and starts this week even though they just sent the bill. The schedule is on the bill. They divide Maplewood into three areas: Mondays is sections 9-12; Wednesdays is sections 1-4; Thursdays is sections 5-8. Commencing Wednesday 3, 2006 until Monday, October 9, 2006. Grass clippings put in hard returnable containers (limit 3 30 gallon container) Garden Debris, pruning, twigs, branches (no leaves) limit 3 bundles tied with string or rope, no more than four feet in length. Place yard waste at curb no later than 6:00am on your scheduled date of collection. On holidays, collection will be the following day. Hope this helps.

I never bother tying up twigs, sticks, branches, I just make sure they are around 4 feet in length and then put them in a garbage container placed at the curb, I've never had a problem with them taking it. Since I don't normally have much yard waste to put out, my neighbor and I split the cost, very rarely do we have three containers out, or even two. |

Is there a place to dump compostable lawn material in town? We have 3 HD bags to get rid of. |

People above have posted about 2 different things: 1) Spring clean up handled by Township of Maplewood which is available to all homeowners. Each zone gets 5 pick-ups which have been completed (usually March-April). 2) Yard waste pick-up run by Waste Management which is available only to those who pay for it (well worth it in my opinion). Runs May through October and is also scheduled by zone (see above). Typical poor customer service by Waste Management, sending out the information the week it starts. |

Waste Management explained that they sent out the info late this year, as the printer was late in getting it to them. I was told WM sent them out to customers last Friday.

hch, I know of those two options. The first which has already passed (so it's useless now for my 3 bags). The second costs money, I'd rather not spend just to dump 3 bags of compost. I was hoping that there was a town compost heap or something like that. Or maybe even a kind soul who needs material for their compost heap. |

Why not just haul it up to the reservation and scatter it about? Look out for wild dogs, though. |

After seeing Wendy's post that the pickups had already started, I rushed outside and put out my three containers full of cut up branches from the tree pruning I did on Saturday. Later in the afternoon WM came and emptied them, and haven't even paid yet, much less gotten a notice in the mail, maybe I'll just keep sticking containers out until they stop taking them. |

But then WM will put you on their list. I don't think you want to be on WM's list. You know, garbage disposal company in NJ and all that that means. |

I'm already on a list, I occasionally provide a cold one to the crew on hot summer days. |
