Jerry, I’m sorry I missed the meeting September 3rd, but did the township committee in fact appoint a new Chief Financial Officer? If so, would you please introduce him/her to the community here on-line? It would be nice to find out the name, where from, qualifications, experience, etc. Remembering some of the past CFO's, I think we would all agree how important the position is to the Township of Maplewood! Lets give it up for our new CFO..... BTW, I just received a copy of RESOLUTION NO. 107-02 from my attorney. Why didn't you list that on your preliminary agenda? Was it listed on the bulletin board at town hall? Was it discussed and voted on in public session? Seeing as how it has an effect on my application regarding my bed and breakfast, I would appreciate an on-line reply before this Monday nights Board of Adjustment meeting. Thank you. Art |

Art: The new CFO is Peter Fresulone, who has experience working in Berkley Heights and South Orange among other places. Resolution 107-02 was a resolution of memorialization of the township's previous action, as it says in the resolution. It is not anything "new". |

Thank you Jerry. Welcome Peter, good luck and very best wishes. Back to RESOLUTION NO. 107-02. Jerry, if the resolution was nothing new, then why was it necessary? I wouldn't bother asking again if the video was back at town hall, but it's not. I also have some other questions I would like answered. As you know, this information pertains to my very important motion regarding Roger Desiderio's various actions, and "his" application before the Board of Adjustment, on my bed and breakfast, which I have opposed. I also didn't read anywhere in the resolution that the TC has, or had authorized his hostile cross-examination and attack on my credibility at the last hearing. Am I now to understand that this new resolution 107-02 is recommending more of the same "old" hostile attack and cross-examination on my credibility? He doesn't do this all on his own, does he? I mean, the TC is still his boss, right? How is it the town has taken sides in this matter anyway? It's not like my neighbors don't have legal representation, they do. What is the payoff for all the time and tax dollars being spent to fight this matter along side my neighbors? I was asked to go before the B of A and I did. The town files summonses, withdraws summonses, refiles summonses, bringing in another municipal judge, takes untold hours of township employee time, moves the matter to Superior Court, hires an outside law firm, etc. Sorry Jerry, I don't get it, I just don't understand. Look, I can even handle another of your June 19,2002, "Them's the facts, folks" comments, as long as you address my questions regarding this very public issue. BTW, you realize you didn't answer “any” of the questions I asked you about the resolution. Should I understand that because it's nothing new it doesn't require public discussion by the TC? Those questions were, "Why didn't you list that on your preliminary agenda? Was it listed on the bulletin board at town hall? Was it discussed and voted on in public session?" A couple of words or Yes or no answers are fine. NBD, Right? Thanks.

Art: The TC found out that your lawyer wanted a formal resolution of memorialization of the action discussed an taken at the earlier meeting. At that earlier meeting, there was extensive public discussion and debate and action: a vote of the committee. This resolution, which was simply a memorialization of that action, was put on the Consent Agenda and was posted on the bulletin board. If it wasn't on the draft agenda that was posted, it's because it wasn't ready on Thursday last. It was nothing "new", as I stated earlier. Nobody felt a need to discuss it, since it was simply a documentation and memorialization of an action that had already been taken after being discussed at length. When your board of adjustment case is completed there will be a similar Resolution of Memorialization, and it will be handled in a similar way. Mr. Desiderio's actions are on behalf of the Township Committee. They are as they have always been: courteous, professional, and ultra competent. Please don't add him to the list of people that you regularly badmouth here; that list is long enough already. Jerry Ryan |

Jerry: Mr. Desiderio's actions speak for themselves. His personal apology to me afterwards was sufficient. If I had a list, which I don't, he would be off. The fact that his direction is on behalf of the Township Committee explains and confirms what I believed all along. Jerry, if you feel the TC's actions, and its directions to Roger have been courteous, professional, and ultra competent, then I hate to think what you guys are capable of when you choose not to be so courteous and professional. As for the ultra competent part, we'll all have to wait for your documentation, moralization, and any demoralizations after tonight’s meeting to decide that. And for your badmouth dig, I'll let you have the final word there. Thanks anyway, I appreciate your prompt reply, and may the better side prevail. Art Christensen
