On the sample ballot for District 20 for the June 6, 2006 primary, Celia King is listed as a male candidate for County Committee and Leonard Robbins is listed as a female candidate for County Committee. Is this what the actual ballot on Tuesday will look like? If so, doesn't that mean a voter in District 20 will be able to vote for both male county committee canidates or both female county committee candidates(going by their actual gender rather than their position on the ballot)? Does this mean that said voter will be unable to split the ticket and vote for either [William Fitzsimmons and Celia King] or [Heather Fitzsimmons and Leonard Robbins] since each pair of names appears in the vote for one column? Would using the write-in column solve this problem or compound it?

To whose attention should this be brought or is it too late to do anything? I only received this sample ballot this afternoon.

I'm more upset at the change in the voting machines. Go to any ATM machine IN THE WORLD, and you get a receipt. Here's what I think should happen:

1. Voter votes.

2. Voter gets a printed report of their vote which they verify.

3. Voter places the printed report of their vote into a locked box.

4. When the votes are computer tallied, a subsequent audit of the printed reports in the locked box can verify that the count is correct.

Although I run the risk of offending my laptop right now, I'm sleptical about the integrity of a computerized system. A good programmer can make a computer do anything.

Almost makes me wish for the blue finger solution that was implemented in Iraq.
