Great news! Long live Mayor Fred! Sorry to come down so hard on K& K but as most of you know, I actually drive voters to the polls. I would say a good 20-30 voters voted for K&K in order to screw me...You see the thing is this. The Great Straw is a dominating figure here on MOL and to a smaller degree, Maplewood. I'm widely read by the masses (and asses) who take offense with everything I say. As a result, I can control and manipulate. In this case by opposing K&K, I actually sealed the election for them. With a 28 point difference, I am happy to announce that I was indeed the difference maker. Imagine Mayor David? I think not! THE GREAT STRAW IS PROUD OF MAYOR FRED and his team. Be proud, be Profeta! Thank You..

Guess Aquaman has to go back to the deep sea. Have your absentee ballots been counted? Do you have that in a primary? Question: is the challenger Nancy Adams, asking for a recount? Can she get a recount in a primary election? We had that in MSH two years ago in the general election, when now Mayor Dan, got elected by only 4 votes after the recount. |

Straw - I was seriously wondering about your intentions! Thanks for clearing that up. I am glad Ken and Kathy won. I would hate to lose their experience, and we get to keep hard working Fred P as mayor. Going back to all that incompetent bumbling messiness before Fred would be a disaster. I know the police dept must be relieved.

Actually it would be wrong for me to take all the credit. I'd like to tip my cap to Kathleen. With friends like her, who needs enemies? |

As Yogi said, "it ain't over 'till its over". I imagine, given the hostility, that there will be a recount and it is unclear if the 28 voite margin of victory includes absentee ballots, which usually aren't counted until the day after the election. NJ made it easier to cast absenttee ballots last year if I recall correctly. It will be interesting to see if the losers decide to run in November on an off line basis. With two losers, Jamie and the mysterious two other candidates Sbenois talks about it will be a very crowded race. |

Regarding the recount issue - last year at this time, this is what we knew about the primary results - DeLuca: 1928 (including 22 absentee votes) Profeta: 1759 (including 42 absentee votes) Grodman: 1750 (including 38 absentee votes) I don't know if Mr. Grodman requested a recount. Bobk - I think the rule still is, if you run in the primary, you can't also petition to run as an independent (petitions were due yesterday, as well). But, you raise an interesting point - who else did put in petitions yesterday? |

Logic would say he wouldn't since the person affected would have been Fred Profeta, his friend and mentor. I don't think Ian has the kind of ego that would require that he try for a recount. I think the numbers moved around a little bit last year before the results were certified. At one point wasn't Ian shown ahead of Fred? |

Ian is above going to the effort of a recount. Very decent man who knew putting the town through that type of circus wasn't right. It's ashame he's off the TC.. Would have made a wonderful Mayor. Hopefully he runs against David next time out.. |

If I called you a pompous egotistical dork who thinks WAY TOO MUCH about himself and his importance in the world, would that get me banned? I can only wonder. Good thing I didn't do it though. So no worries. |

Most people bump when they really need an answer to a question in a timely manner - usually in the Please Help section. Your reason for bumping is?????????? I would hazard a guess but you already have a few people you like to make fun of who have called you out on your posting behavior. I don't intend to stress your abilities with a compound question. |

Sorry Lucy- Janine was elected Essex County Democratic Committee, Dist 8 for South Orange. Dist 8 covers Scotland to Hillside and Mead to Montrose. She won by five votes. The vote was 34-29.
