I just got a call from a friend in the Jefferson area who told me her power went out before 1:00pm. Does anybody know how widespread this is? I may change evening plans if we won't have power. |

We're also affected (I'm writing from work :-)) I called PSEG and they are aware but no ETA. |

I'm near the Jefferson area on Ridgewood by New England Rd. and Dehart Rd. I do have power. |

Join the club. Don't expect it to go back on anytime soon. My sister in Verona has been without power since the storm earlier this week. Same for a friend in Montclair. I think there are also areas of West Orange out. I hope you find somewhere cool to go. I'd offer our house to hang out but right now it's a wreck with everything from our kitchen in our dinning room. No stove, no table to eat on. |

Emmie, you must be my neighbor! I'm on Ridgewood, near Dehart and New England. Unless you're me... Are you? |

Fine and dandy here (no power problems) in St Cloud area of West Orange. Although driving through Verona yesterday was nuts... traffic lights on Bloomfield Ave were out, except at Lakeside and at Prospect, but the 2-3 lights between were out, and traffic along Bloomfield was crawling... no one on Bloomfield was slowing down to let the side street traffic turn onto Bloomfield. Lots of trees , branches all over.

Just left Parkwood Diner on Springfield Ave.and saw lightning hit the transformer in front of Orange Mattress, knocking it to the ground and burning with a brillance that made it impossible to look at straight on.Through all that, traffic was just zipping by in both directions and only stopped when the fire would flare up real intense.I'm sure that some people in that neighborhood are going to be without power for a spell. |

Is that why the police have a portion of Springfield Avenue west of Prospect Street closed off? |

I was in Newstead when the storm hit about 4 ish. Something got hit real close to where I was because it was 'crackle, sizzle, (not even a second later) KABOOOOOOM!!!!!' Scared me to death! The two kittiessitting in front of the sliding glass door took off running! Looked like their hair was standing up! The one started to cry. "KEWL!!!" Said the ten year old kid!!! "Can we go outside to watch?" "Ah, NO!" I told him. Hope the people on the Springfield Ave side of town are okay... |

I was in O'Reilly's at about 8:30 when the power went out from there at least down to Valley St. It was strange because at that time there was no rain or wind. |

We had no power from around 2 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. last Wednesday. That day the weather was beautiful all day. |

Not in my area. We had three very short periods without power yesterday afternoon - evening but today was fine. |

Em, our power was restored about a 1/2 hour after I posted so I'm told (I was in mid-commute). Sorry to alarm! |

We lost power for a few hours on Saturday, and then yesterday evening it went out twice, both times for around 40 minutes. Grrrr. |
