Jerry,

Happy New Year, and thank you for all your input on this board all year long.

So, as long as you’re asking, I do have one question. It seems like one area of responsibility for a member of the TC might be missing?

Can you tell us who's going to be in charge of from which all this comes? (The town’s new computer web site, its key communication link between the residents and the governing body, and of course the continued listing of the TC agenda.)

I chair the communications committee, don't I?

So you do... Yes, I see it now, you do.

So, the town’s new computer web site, the key communication link between the residents and the governing body, and of course the continued listing of the TC agenda, all falls under the Communication Committee classification... and you are the chairman.

How silly of me, I thought it might have had its own category, something like web site development, or computer something or other. I'm sorry; I should have figured that out. Well, keep up the good work Jerry.

Today I attended my first Maplewood Township Reorganization Meeting and was very glad that I did. (I had to leave half way through but caught the rest on cable TV.) The meeting was very well run and organized, with sufficient pomp and ceremony to befit the occasion. There was quite a cross section of townspeople, former committeemen and committee woman, township employees, volunteers, and others. The Police Colorguard and Policemen present in uniform were impressive also. The patriotic songs were very inspiring. The speeches were thoughtfully prepared and well delivered. Overall I felt proud to be a Maplewoodian. I would have preferred to see a couple of Republicans being sworn in, and am not sure that an all-male, all white, all middle-aged .... committee is necessarily best able to represent the town in all aspects, but none-the-less offer my best wished to Ian (my neighbor) and Fred, and continuing best wishes to David, Jerry, and Vic. Maplewood is certainly one of the best places to live, and there are many elected (and unelected) people working to make it better. HAPPY NEW YEAR MAPLEWOOD.

All middle aged? Three of us are in our early forties! Is that middle aged?

Ed, I think the TC is perfectly aged and well represented by the voting residents of our community. I'm also excited about the possibilities for Maplewood in the year ahead, and yes, there are many people working to make it better...

I'll drink to that.

Jerry, think of it this way. Early '40's being middle aged gives you a life expectancy of at least the middle 80s. That's not bad (at least until you get there).

Good luck to the members of the 2003 TC, both the newly elected and sitting.

And congratulations to Vic Deluca on another year as Mayor (unanimously appointed by the TC). Great speech about alot of good that's been done in Maplewood recently by alot of folks, which culminated with the nod from Money magazine.
