Hey, I didn't see this thread but I did want to thank whoever is responsible for the revised township web site. I was able to quickly find the bulk pickup schedule and the map. I've been rather a crank about local web sites (school district, town) so I figured I should give credit where credit is due. Thanks!

PS--Bulk pick up is one of the highlights of my homeowner year (always seem to have a lot of crud to get rid of) so I REALLY appreciate this.

Your post jogged me to go look. Thanks!

One nit - I found the schedule and I found the zone map, but I couldn't find any description or guidelines about when to put out (after 5pm the night before), what to put out, etc. Now, after 20 years of living here, I know the drill, but they really need to post that information for the newbies.

Your post jogged me to relook, especially on the subject of newbies.

One design change that could be good is a big bold link for newbies, that goes to page of links of interest especially to that population. This is in keeping with web site design ideas that suggest a navigation by user type in addition to topics. I still feel like a newbie, and there are some key topics that are always of interest like...

1. Recycling
2. Jitneys
3. Parking
4. Bulk pickup
5. What is the gov structure, etc.

About the pick up map..I live on Tuscan Road, and the way the map appears, the dividing line between 8 and 7 is right on Tuscan Road, so it's hard to tell whether we are 7 or 8 or both. Any help would be appreciated.

THANKS!

They used to have a clearer map where you could tell exactly where the borderlines were with respect to the streets. Perhaps someone can dig it up and post it on the township site (?)

ess, this is it: http://www.twp.maplewood.nj.us/

but the way I get to it is through MOL. I go to MOL home, wait for local links to pop up at the top and click on government. This way I'm still officially feeding my MOL habit.

I don't mind that Rutgers University is hosting the township website now, but they could do a better job of hiding it in the URLs that you go to when you click on something.
