Call me crazy, but didn't the Fire Department used to hose down the skating area on a regular basis to keep it smooth? They are right across the street, for goodness sake! I've seen some man filling up buckets from the stream and throwing them on the pond to make it smooth. He also has a broom to sweep off the snow but gave up recently when the kids would not help. Help! |

I guess we can't just expect these things, but the only time when skating is possible is when there are consistent freezing temps. But when there are consistent freezing temps, we're likely to have snow to mar the ice. It's a catch-22! |

Please leave the town committee alone. They're working on foreign relations. |

Call me crazy, but wizard that was funny! and sullymewully, it's the hose that doesn't care if it snows! It would take care of our skating woes! Not having smooth ice blows! |

is it a figment of my imagination, or did the town use to have a Zamboni for this very reason until it went through the ice one winter? (I vaguely remember being told this when I was very young, back when I was learning to skate at Maplecrest park with strap on skates that had two blades) |

If anyone wanted the ice cleared, it wouldn't take anything more than an hour or so of TLC by someone in the township. Crazyguggenheim, if you really want "Help" the next time call me. I'd be happy to come down and clear the ice. One thing for sure, I wouldn't give up or care if the kids there helped or not! I would never rely on children to do a mans job. Anyway, most kids learn best by example...

do you know what always got me we have a ice rink like 5 miles out of town and no freakin hockey team for are school isn't that something the New jersey devils even train there yet I've never heard anyone talk about getting a high school level team going with their help the most I've ever seen the town do for skaters is put water in the park and spray a few lines in the the maplewood pool parking lot ( which is used in the summer) and I think buy two nets don't know if they where left there by some other crazy kids or if the town spent a few dollars on them oh yeah they tennis people call the cops on ya too because they can't use the other 50 tennis courts in the town ...I think there is a town ordinace about roller skating on every freakin street in maplewood too but thats another story |
