This morning when I took my son to school -- I noticed a few streets closed off.

Tonight -- going into the village -- nearly every major street is closed -- but the storm has been over for 12+ hours!

Was Maplewood really hit that bad by Isabel?

Pete

It seemed like we had more wind (or at least more damaging wind) during the day today than overnight, so I assume that is why all the downed trees and closed streets this evening. Nothing too major in my yard, but it did do some minor damage to a screen door (actually to the closer mechanism) and overturn a couple of patio chairs ... all while the sun was shining during the middle of the day.

wow -- i hope that no homes were damaged by the wind or falling trees.

the outer banks of nc got smacked hard -- many, many homes lost.

we were very fortunate

The streets were closed for quite a while because the fallen trees/limbs had pulled down electrical wires with them and the Shade Tree Department was waiting for Public Service to make the area safe.
