MAY - ZIEGLER REPUBLICAN VISION FOR MAPLEWOOD

We set up this thread so that the voters of Maplewood can comment on the May - Ziegler Republican Vision For Maplewood. Our Vision is described in the Republican Thread that Dave set up for us above. We prefer real name only posting in this thread, and ask posters to exercise a degree of politeness and decorum. (PS to Dave: if this thread belongs elsewhere, feel free to move it.)

P. S. Ed and I were not invited to the televised Neighborhood Associations debate on May 15th. We were not offered a public "Meet the Republican Candidates" forum before June 3rd. The News-Record has been focusing on the Democratic Primary, and has yet to profile Ed and myself. This is unfair, since Unaffiliated Voters and Republican Voters are also voting on June 3rd. We thank Maplewood Online for stepping up to the plate and providing us with a forum. While the Democrats are busy debating among themselves, and Soapbox is getting a bit out of control, we would like to offer the good voters of Maplewood a chance to make comments and ask us questions that we will endeavor to answer in this thread. See also our website www.maplewoodrepublicans.com and think about coming to our General Election Kick-Off Event on June 12th. More about that later.

The News-Record today quoted Jery Ryan as saying that the Democratic Primary winners will be on the Township Committee in November "no disrespect to the Republicans"! In one fell swoop Mr. Ryan dissed all the Republicans, Unaffiliated voters, and disenfranchised Democrats in Maplewood. How arrogant is he to assume that he and Mr. DeLuca will win on June 3rd and that they will win again in November! PLEASE give the voters (remember them?) the opportunity to speak. Show your opponents some respect King Jerry! Sheesh! Don't uncork that champaign just yet.

You think it's disrespectful to predict that the Democratic party will win? Isn't predicting one's own victory what any candidate will do?

Ed and Joel:

Even if you are both elected in November, the Republican Party will still be in the minority on the TC. Some of your ideas (such as reducing the number of town ordinances) are in direct opposition to the trend followed by the TC in recent years. How do you plan to work with the remaining TC members in the next year to enact your proposed agenda?

Joan

Thanks for that excellent question. Over the last few months Joel and I have been attending town meetings and events and have had many occsions to speak with all of the TC members (and challengers). We are all fairly intelligent, educated, and reasonable people who gather facts, analyze information, and make a decision. We would hope to make arguments that are pursuasive enough to win over at least one Democratic TC member in each case. You may have noticed that I recently voiced my opinion about the leaf blower ordinane, Mormon Church on Springfild Ave, anti-war resolution, etc. I reached my decision and each member of the TC reached their decision. Sometimes the TC agreed with me, in whole or in part. If Joel and I can sell an idea to one third of the remaining TC, we can effect change.

Democrats organize "Meet the Democrat Candidates Forums". If having a forum before June 3 matters so much, then why did no Republican supporters organize one? Where are the supporters? I said on another thread that I would attend such a forum and Art seemed to be willing to host one (unless he said that in jest). I would like to learn more about the Republicans so that I will be more informed in November (I was familiar with all candidates when I voted last November). So far I have seen invitations to view a website with NO information and an announcement that the campaign kick-off will be on June 12 (so why all the whining about not having a public forum before June 3).

Item to be moved.

This is "Official Maplewood" topic and is not for political posturing or debate, but rather for officials to respond to questions from citizens. It will shift to Soapbox tomorrow.

Fine with me. By the way, how come no new postings in the Democratic "Debate" thread above? I was looking forward to some back and forth between Kathy/Ken and Vic/Jerry.

wouldn't it be nice if we had someone that did the best for the whole town instead of just there side of the town even when going to high school there where sides vally street was the split

as for votes go why not vote for the person you think will be the best for the job I don't understand why or how you could vote for someone just because they are a REPUBLICAN or whatever
to tell you the truth maplewood has always been a silly town trying to hide from the rest of essex county

Adam

Welcome to Maplewood Online. Joel and believe that we will be best for the whole town. I have lived in four different locations in town ~ on both sides of Valley Street. Joel has lived and worked in various locations also around town.

I can't speak for Kathy and Ken, as to where they have lived in town, but you could try posting the question on their thread on MOL.

And I'll be joining these fine gentlemen in their campaign as the over-compensated virtual press secretary and voluneer coordinator. Sbenois will be working with Ken and Kathy. And the fine mathematically astute ladies and gentlemen at Sbenois Polling Services will be assisting both sides.

Dr. Stefano

We are truly honored to have you on the May-Ziegler team as our over-compensated virtual press secretary and volunteer coordinator.

I am sure that Sbenois will do a fine job working with Kathy and Ken, our esteemed Democrat opponents.

While not wishing to question the mathematical astuteness of the fine ladies and gentlemen at Sbenois Pooling Services, how can we be assured that Sbenois Polling Services will be truly objective?

As you may know, I am an adjunct professor of industrial statistics at NJIT. As such I would like to know which statistical methods will be used for the scientific polling.
