Ed,

I think you should say 9 more days until residents finally have a chance to vote for Republicans who will bring around some long overdue fiscal tax reform, and a reduction in their property taxes...

It appears to the voters I’ve been speaking with, that they are tired of voting for candidates who don’t believe a property tax cut is possible. And, this year they’re also done believing that same old "Democrat Mantra" that if elected their Democrat counter parts in Trenton will do it for us!

It’s total nonsense for anyone to think that after all the years the Democrats have been in control of Maplewood, that this year, and this time around, they are going to do anything to relieve the pain and suffering we endure with these outrages property taxes we’re forced to pay.

Maplewood, Essex County, and the State of New Jersey continues to sock it to us. This is no longer about party politics; this is about keeping our homes and not being continually taxed to death at every turn.

The majority of registered voters in Maplewood, Essex County, and the state are Democrats. It’s time for them to change their thinking about which party is going to bring tax reform, rather than just talk about tax reform like they have in the past.

This election is not about popularity, or a beauty contest for voters here in Maplewood. It’s not about who did what in the past. It’s certainly not about any kind of diversity, as we know we already have had that on the township committee in the past as well. It also shouldn’t be about party politics either.

This year the most compelling issues are clearly about who is going to fight the hardest for property tax reform. Who is going to hold the line on spending in the town and in our schools? Who’s going to do what they promise to do? And, who is out there on the streets, and on MOL publicly talking about it? It's damn sure not any Democrat Candidate. Be honest and ask yourself why! I think the answer is obvious, they think the election is in the bag and there’s really no reason to seriously debate the issues with the twelve of us who might question them, or the few thousand lurking who might change their minds. .....

The Democrats in town haven’t done the job for the past decade, and it’s long past due for Maplewood to get some real political balance on the township committee... If you really believe in America’s two party system of government, then this year vote for Ed and Joel. Our community deserves this opportunity for real change, and FWIW, IMHO, these two men will work very well with Fred Profeta who is also up to some good things as he becomes Maplewood’s next Mayor in January! There, I said it!!!

VOTE REPUBLICAN THIS YEAR FOR NO MORE TAX AND SPEND! NO MORE TAX AND SPEND! NO MORE TAX AND SPEND! NO MORE TAX AND SPEND! NO MORE TAX AND SPEND! NO MORE TAX AND SPEND!
