How cool was that four hour MAY-ZIEGLER Stretch Limo TODAY? Do you see us? Did you wave back? Wasn't it fun? Did anyone get a picture? Want to see it again tomorrow? |

We saw the limo in the morning before you all hopped on in. I commented that seeing a six year old, beat-up limo that sounded like it needed ball joints replaced two years ago, was surely a limo for people who shouldn't be riding in a limo. Now hearing who the passengers were, my comment was appropriate. |

I'd like to see you in some antique cars next such as the chrome beauties from the 50s or the sober wheels from the 30s. ps make sure you get a picture of it for posting on this board. |

Ladies, meet Horace the Chauffeur. Horace is single, 38 years old, earns a nice living and has only 3 points on his license! Horace has previously driven the stretch limos of James Treffinger, Candy Straight and Marie S. So he was the natural choice to escort Ed and Don around town. Horace's hobbies include car repossesion, private mini-golf parties and maintaining cordial relations with his immediate neighbors

Q. Why would this 6'1", 234-pound, teddy bear be doing the Cha Cha in the middle of Maplewood Avenue just 2 days before the election? A. Because he just heard some great news. His limo insurance went down, and the Democrat’s were behind in the Maplewood On Line Election Poles. |

“...my comment was appropriate” Sure, you can say it’s appropriate coming from the likes of you two. Why should we ever expect anything different from Us2innj? You can continue with your negative and insulting comments, but I believe most everyone has your number by now. The way I figure, you guys either grew up being bullied, or being bullies. Either way you’ve got problems. Do yourselves a favor and get some help. |

After the TRUCK and the LIMO, Maplewood must be wondering what form of vehicular transport Ed and Joel will use next! Imagine: Ed and Joel in personal dirigibles floating down from the sky into Ricalton Square. Ed and Joel roaring up and down the streets of Maplewood on motorcycles. Ed driving a motorcycle with Joel in the side car? Ed and Joel in a horsedrawn carriage. Ed and Joel on 15 gear racing bikes. Joel pulling Ed on a rickshaw. Imagine, if you can. |

Marilyn, I got goose pimples reliving how exciting it was! Did you get to play with all the buttons, and make the partition go up and down? Was there an 8-track tape player? Were there disco lights on the inside? How stocked was the liquor cabinet? |

Saw it this morning. Looks like the kind of car a big spender would be riding in. Just kidding, guys. Actually, I hope you guys start a trend. Campaigns should be more fun in a town like this. No matter what happens on Tuesday, I hope you had fun, and feel that you at least made people pay attention to local government. |

Thanks for the comments Nohero... You're right on! It was a blast... The weather was perfect, and we managed to cover every street in Maplewood. The three days with the flat bed and limo were not only a lot of fun, but the response from literally thousands of residents was surprisingly positive. Besides a couple of wise asses like Us2innj, people would smile and wave, and in general seemed to appreciate all the attention and hoop-la over the election. This year, more than any in a long time, there were coffee’s and house parties, debates, lawn signs, bumper stickers, pens, flags and banners, campaign buttons, mailers, phone calls, fliers, special seminars on TQM, Saturday’s at the post office, several 5Am trips to the train station, visits to all the department heads and township committee. There were two and three strategy meetings every week, and walking trips door to door. I can’t speak for the other candidates, but whether these guys win or lose, the residents of Maplewood know that Ed and Joel gave it their all... |

No Hero Glad you saw the limo this morning. We heard your "big spender" quip. The irony is that the limo cost us nothing, except for the gas to operate it. Actually, we do hope to start a trend, because we agree that campaigns should be fun in a small town like Mayberry. No matter what happens on Tuesday, we know that we had fun. We do feel that we at least made people pay attention to local government. We also know that we raised very important issues, and that the competition had to adopt their positions in the face of ours. We are proud to have introduced the concept of Total Quality Management in government to the good citizens of this fine town. And, we actually got people talking about LOWERING TAXES! Win, or lose, we think that Maplewood was a big winner this campaign season, because of our antics. Ed May |

Ed, Why is it ironic that the limo cost you nothing? Aren't you required to list it as a donation in kind? Isn't it just another campaign contribution from a supporter, the same as getting cash?

It is ironic because small businessmen like Art and myself often figure out how to get something done for free or on the cheap, and that is how we got the limo, not as big spenders. And yes, we will complete the necessary campaign forms. Ed May |

What’s the difference between your approach and cronyism? What’s in it for the limo owner?

What's "in it" for any politician to accept donations? You have to look a bit further afield to find cronyism. |

They're my vehicles, and twenty dollars in fuel reported... Well, as long as you're asking, the only thing in it for me is the same thing that's in it for anyone else who votes... the satisfaction of participating in the democratic process. And, what's in it for you fruitcake...is it the Democratic process, or just another chance to bust chops?

Grw, We first came down Cypress, crossed Milton to Milburn Avenue, and coming back we turned right off Cypress on to Milton and left on Rosemont back to Ridgewood Road... As I said, "We managed to cover every street in Maplewood." We wanted your attention. We wanted your input! We want to serve you. We want your vote! And, we were willing to come out the best way we could to do it… BTW, what a great subject to bring up the day before an election... Let me say this about that, a vote for Ed and Joel will make sure you get your town services without having to call, write, or sit at a TC meeting all night just to get their attention... Just post your questions, problem, or what have you on line. It’s long past the time to get our government to response on-line the way it should be in 2003 and beyond! Like the banks figured out a few years ago, the public no longer wants government like the banker hours of years ago. Everything today needs to be 24/7. IMHO, our present township committee and the Democratic candidates think they're too sophisticated and high and mighty to mix it up on line. If the public wants government they have to come to town hall or to them to personally get it… Enough already, today it’s the voters and on-line public that’s sophisticated, not government. Why can’t we have access to government 24/7? I want interactive government when I want it, not when they feel like giving it to me… We keep hearing about how the posters are too angry on line, or too difficult to respond to on line, yada, yada, yada… Forget about it! Why are they so angry anyway? I’ll tell you why, it’s because they can’t get anyone to really listen to them, or respond. Mature adults understand it can’t always be their way, but at least interact with us without all the inconveniences they have put in our way. This election really comes down to how the voters want this township committee to serve us. Chances are that anyone reading this post understands the value of good on-line communication. It’s the speed and efficient exchange of information not possible anyway, or anywhere else. Look, I’m willing to make a bet with anyone on MOL, that if the Democrat’s get elected tomorrow, the township committee will still not come out and publicly agree to interact with us on MOL. My bet is, it will still be more of the same old business as usual. I’m so sure nothing will change that I’ll be willing to each of their a**’s in Rickleton Square next Saturday, and give them all day to draw a crowd... Trust me, it's not going to happen, and if it did, any personal embarrassment would be well worth it just to get them to agree to do it! |

ok ajc, you got close enough When you turned left on Rosedale (not Rosemont), that was still Millburn, Maplewood starts when you go straight, last three houses on left, last 5 houses on right. |

Thanks, we were trying... WOW! I just looked on a map and never noticed before how remote your street really is. I see how that could be a real problem getting services. Maybe the eight residents should apply to have your property transferred to Millburn, or better yet form Mapleburn, NJ? |
