It's November 23 & I have only had leaf pick up once this season, in late October. My street (near Wyoming) is like a slalom course. Ridgewood Road is nearly impassable by two cars in many parts due to the leaves. The "schedule" that the town sent out is a joke. Does anyone else feel like this is the worst leaf service in years? I'm really looking forward to having the snowplow put my neighbors leaves in front of my driveway like last year... |

They're definitely way behind schedule. I'm hoping that the windstorms we had about a week ago just put out a lot more leaves than we usually have at this time, and there will be less to do later, but maybe that's wishful thinking. |

I am right therer with you. It is impossible to drive down some streets because the leaf piles are so big. |

Our lawn guy was just talking to me about how this has been one of the most difficult years ever in terms of leaves raking and blowing. He said the leaves started to fall remarkably late this year and came down all at once. He doesn't know how he is going to get all of his work done. Blame Mother Nature -- not the town. |

I live on Highland Avenue and have had three leaf pickups so far. The first was after the hurricane. I believe that that was an unscheduled cleanup. |

Saw lots of leaf-filled town trucks out and about today. |

Barbara the irony is that I live on Burroughs way (the logical extension of Highland) and we have had only one pick up. There seems to be little logic behind the "schedule" I am still glad they come at all! "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" Wayne Gretzky |

I think part of the problem is that this year given the wind, rain and sudden temperature dives, all the leaves seemed to come down at once. We had our second pickup yesterday and from the town website it looks like a couple of more are scheduled well into December. |

Too bad more people don't have compost piles. They're free fertilizer and mulch for gardens when properly handled. And the outside work is good for the soul and body. The abundance of rain we've had helps them decompose more quickly and one can put on decomposter, left-over sand, lime and the like. Carefully selected kitchen leftovers go in also. Altogether a good "green" idea. |

Duncan, the only thing that I can think of why I have had three pickups is that the town is obsessed about keeping the storm drains clear on the corners of Elmwood and Highland. After a snow fall a crew of about four men arrives around two in the am to clear he snow away. I agree with you that I am glad that they come at all and I don't have to bag the leaves. |
