I am sorry if by posting my questions blood was drawn. Reflective, sbenois, Anon, ajc, Joan, bobk: I thank you for your information. I really am trying to figure out the structure here. I do have a concern or two, and I'm trying to get off being a polemicist type and instead raise my questions/thoughts appropriately. I appreciate any information that leads to understanding of how things work.

I've been digging around and I am challenged to find straight up info on the election district leader thing. Specifically, who represents me. Is this an Essex County role? Should I be looking on that site? I appreciate your patience.

Such an innocent thread has caused so much trouble!

Cynicalgirl. Don't be discouraged. You may be the least cynical person here. Look up Lydia Lacey in the phone book. She is the Female Co-Chair of the Town Democratic Party. I believe she lives on Euclid. She is friendly and accessible. You can give her your address and ask her who your Dem District Leaders are. She probably also knows who the Republicans are. Or, you could call Ed May, the former Republican TC candidate.

Bob, I got she was talking about the bus problem because I read her post and that’s what she said.

Cynicalgirl posted on Saturday, January 17, 2004 - 5:10 pm:

“I got thinking about it because of the issues related to Boyden/Parker and the bus traffic, along with wondering who to ask about a particular concern.”

Meanwhile, Anon posted on Sunday, January 11, 2004 – 6:34 pm,

Art, they are not Rosa Parks! Annoying bus traffic on Boyden Avenue is not racial segregation on buses!

Really? “Such an innocent thread has caused so much trouble!”

Anon, you’re the problem, nobody else!

I’d suspend your dumb a$$, not Sbenois. I reached out to you to explain your comment three times on-line, including sending you a private line over the past seven days. I all but begged you to make me wrong...

BTW, Cynicalgirl has nothing to do with your comment, which was clearly a racial remark. Look at it this way; Rosa Parks is a black woman as were the women who were arrested! I wanted to know why you brought Rosa Parks into the conversation. If the protestors arrested had been white men or white women, would Ms. Parks still be mentioned? Then adding insult to injury, your following comment, “Annoying bus traffic on Boyden Avenue is not racial segregation on buses!”, further justified my point in asking what you meant.

Look, I’m not concerned about what the other insensitive people were saying about the incident. No one else was making reference to anything to do with Ms. Parks or racial segregation… You refused to respond when asked too, for that matter so did everyone else. Only Sbenois had the courage to call you on it.

Dave, I think this calls for an instant replay. Anon was repeatedly asked to explain his comment. I spoke to one of the women involved in this about his comment, and she didn’t know what to make of it either.

I can tell you this, at best it was an insensitive and stupid thing to say, at worst it was a racial slur.

Anon is at the center of this issue and should apologize to the women for any misunderstanding for the comment made. His last post trying to explain his comments is to little, and too late. If Anon still feels to proud to see how the comment regarding Ms. Parks could be misinterpreted, then I think Dave should suspend him as well for being so arrogant on such a sensitive subject matter.

FWIW, I’m also sorry Anon… but I really get pissed when someone doesn’t promptly address what appears to be an inappropriate racial comment. You had more than amply opportunity to clear this up a week ago and didn’t. Given the wide public exposure to this issue, that’s inexcusable in my book!

Tank him Dave!

I've just heard from Sbenois and he is asking Dave Ross to lengthen his suspension because he can no longer figure out what this thread means.

First Art asks Anon a question about a racial reference.
Then Anon calls himself a rascist.
Then Sbenois calls Anon a racist in jest to highlight the fact that he's never posted anything even remotely racist, while agreeing with Art.
Sbenois is then suspended.
I then come on to protest the suspension to point out that Anon called himslef a rascist
Anon then clears Sbenois' name
Art then says BULL
Art then praises Sbenois for calling Anon on the carpet, although Sbenois actually did the exact opposite.
Art then asks Dave to suspend Anon for being a rascist although Anon is not a rascist or a racist.

Sbenois is hoping for a four month long suspension.

I think Mr.Ross should suspend the following people:

1) Anon
2) Rosa Parks
3) All NJT Bus Drivers
4) One of the two women (his choice)
5) Ajc
6) Tom, Nohero, and the rest of the liberal weenies
7) Roger Clemens
8) Strawberry
9) Ainsworth
10) Himself

OK... if none of you weenie's can figure this out, I'll just have to take care of it my own way...

Anon, you're suspended from any further communication with me ever again. Stay clear of me. Don't comment on anything I post in the future, and whatever you do, you don't want to test my resolve.

If for any reason you decide to do the right thing and apologize for your role in this mess, I will be happy to reconsider your suspension. The BULL is in your court!

Pappy:
I think I have it, based on the time of Art's posts. They were made right after Carolina wupped up on the Eagles, and ajc bet on the eagles. He was just upset.

Re sheb, while he is serving his suspension meditating alone, shivering, high up in a tree, on the Reservation overlooking maplewood, he think how to better parse his sentences.

warm regards...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not read MOL every day and sometimes less than once a week. I hardly ever check my e-mail. I had no idea that Art had private-lined me or had asked me three times to explain my comments. I chose to ignore him the first time because his criticism seemed so off the wall.

And you know what else I didn't know - the color of the skin of the two ladies who were arrested! For whatever reason I assumed they were white. I didn't see the one gal's picture in the News-Record until way after I posted.

Hey, I was reacting to criticism of these two women by pointing out that they are presumed innocent until proven otherwise. My remark about Rosa Parks was meant to be humorous. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

"I guess no good deed goes unpunished."

So, whereas your explanation could be believable, I guess… where the hell is your apology for being so insensitive, inconsiderate, and inattentive to your own comments made around the Board?

Anon, I’m sure I’m not alone is saying this, but a lot of time has been spent jerking around on a matter that you initiated with what now appears to be an unintended racial slur.

Lets get on with it man, do you apologize or not?

Anon has nothing to apologize for. He made a perfectly valid reference about civil disobedience and significant historical protests. Bus traffic on Boyden Avenue is a nuts and bolts issue. It’s important that we do something about it to improve the situation here in Maplewood, but it’s not the civil rights movement or the Pentagon papers. Get off your high horse, Art.

BTW, you’re right, Anon. Here on MOL, no good deed ever goes unpunished.

Anon, I sorry if my last post sounds a little harsh... I just read your buddy Sbenois post, Posted on Monday, January 19, 2004 - 6:58 pm: and commented on it.

After calming down a little and returning to this thread and re-reading it, I guess I'm giving you a pretty hard road to give an apology...

Maybe if I meet you half way it will make it easier to put this all behind us?

So... I'm sorry for being such a hard ass... OK, your turn

Just to get back to the acutal topic. Cynicalgirl - If I recall correctly from past posts you live in the Midland Park are. There is a Midland Park Neighborhood Association so if you have Neighborhood issue they are good folks to talk to (they were very involved in getting the trafic circles put in on Midland.)

Thanks, ashear. Didn't know if I was part of them or not. Last I looked, they had a real out of date web presence. What's the realy deal, if you know. Person to call, etc. Have never seen anything in my mailbox or other to know that I was part of them, and trying to figure out to whom we belong.

I think the annual stuffing of mailboxes is to take place soon, so if you are a new arrival that may be your first contact. I think the borders are Prospect, Parker, Boyden, Elmwood. I have info at home and one of my neighbors is involved (I confess I really am not). I'll try to get you some info tonight or tomorrow.

I'm tellin' ya, if you're new, it's tough to figure. I feel like I need Ross Perot-style charts, and a laser pointer...and then you never know when you've stuck your foot in it (mouth or other, depending...). I've always been a taxation without representation is tyranny person, so I figure I should figure it out...Thanks for all your good help, all.

Eduardo, I think you need to check your quality indicators because something is wrong. How is it possible that someone who ran for TC doesn't even know how often they meet?

Were you planning on missing half of the meetings? Was Marilyn going to attend those instead?
