>>8. SPECIAL PRESENTATION ö From Governing Body >>1. Millburn Bike Shop Owners ö Thomas & Patrick Driscoll ? Isn't that shop in Millburn? Is it possible to get a copy of the CCR zoning report? Is this report the basis in any way for 'AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 271 OF THE CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MAPLEWOOD ENTITLED "ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS"'? |

Quote:? Isn't that shop in Millburn?
Yes; we're thanking them for a donation that they made to the Township.
Quote:Is it possible to get a copy of the CCR zoning report?
Sure. I'm pretty sure that KAP posted it online in its entirety, but I couldn't find it. Dave?
Quote:Is this report the basis in any way for 'AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 271 OF THE CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MAPLEWOOD ENTITLED "ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS"'?
Not in the least. The ordinance codifies a correction to an error in the zoning map that the construction official discovered. Jerry |

I know of no Township Committee meeting about dogs on Friday. I don't think I ever announced one, so I'd hardly call that a bluff. What are you talking about? |

This is what I saw on that thread:
Quote:For all concerned about the "Dog Hill"/dog run, leash law enforcement issues on this thread: The mayor (Vic DeLuca) has set up a time for him (on behalf of the TC) to listen and "information gather" about all the issues we've discussed here. All are welcome, Thursday Sept. 6, 7:30pm at Town Hall.
Doesn't sound like a bluff to me :-) |

Jerry: I think Chiendog is confused because Vic's meeting to explore the issues regarding dogs running off leash in Maplewood is scheduled for the Thursday following a TC meeting in which "dogs in park" is listed as one of the agenda items for discussion. It might make more sense for the exploratory meeting to come first. Also, do you know if the thursday meeting has been announced anywhere other than on Maplewoodonline on the DOG HILL thread? There may be persons interested in and/or affected by the discussion proposed for Thursday's meeting who are unaware that such a meeting has been scheduled. |

Joan: Being confused extends to accusations of lying? What a shame for civil discourse. I understood that the meeting mentioned by Vic was called at the request of a fellow who spoke at a TC meeting a month ago or so. This is only one in a series of discussions that are being held, both at TC meetings, and outside of TC meetings as a mechanism to gather information and bring it back to the TC. It's not the first time it will be discussed at a TC meeting, and it is not the last, so I'm not sure what your problem is with order of meetings and discussions. And nobody is relying on MOL as the sole mechanism to communicate, as far as I can tell. Any actions taken on this matter will not happen without a good bit of discussion and debate as to what should happen. Any discussions going on next week are by no means the last opportunity for anyone to speak on this issue. And action will not be taken without a vote of the TC, which will be done in open session for all to see. Jerry Ryan |

Jerry - I'm glad you pointed out that MOL is not the sole mechanism for communicating with the Township Committee. That very (valid) statement prompts me to ask about the "official" Maplewood website that Town Administrator Michele Meade announced well over a year ago. I suspect that such a resource could be a very practical medium for dialog with our elected officials and email access to municipal offices. Could you kindly enlighten us as to the status of the project? Thanks in advance, Paul |

The project has been lower on the priority list than some of the other things that the Administrator's office has been handling. We have a domain (twp.maplewood.nj.us). Some of the departments in town have email access; the clerk will, for example, email me the agenda as a Word document for posting on MOL, and the administrator will send reminders of meetings and the like by email as well. The ultimate goal is to have a web presence with meeting agendas, minutes, resolutions, ordinances, etc. as well as some mechanisms for accessing municipal services online. We're not near there yet; not not because of lack of desire, but rather because of lack of time for staff to get things set up. The next step is the preparation of some specifications so that we can solicit bids for web design and the like. Jerry Ryan |

Jerry - Thanks for the update. It's discouraging to learn that the Township's website project, once announced with the suggestion that a launch date was near, hasn't even reached the "specs" stage after so long. If staffing is the issue, perhaps the TC would consider the volunteer efforts of some interested citizens to get the ball rolling. And yes, I would be happy to put my name on the list. Anyone else? Paul: consider yourself volunteered. Give me a call this weekend and we'll try and launch this; I'm in the book (call the number that has my wife and my name next to it). Jerry |

Looking for hardware? I have a IBM PS2-80, big drives, 386. While a not a powerhouse in today's world, it can serve to store or process many web site functions. I'll donate it. |

If it would help, a section can be created on this message board (passworded-protected, if necessary) to help organize volunteer efforts on the project. |

Jerry - Thanks for the opportunity! I'll call on Saturday. And thanks to you as well, Dave. A section on MOL would be an ideal forum to gather a "wish list" of features that residents would like to see. (A link to MOL will be a "must," no doubt.) Paul |

Actually, this existing official section is probably appropriate enough. |

Dave - Perhaps, after I've had a chat with Jerry Ryan, we might want to start a new discussion topic to solicit ideas and welcome other volunteers. Paul |

Big drives in a PS/2 80? I think the biggest drive they ever shipped was 320MB. What do you run on it? |

Perhaps I should have said the biggest drives. You are correct. It has twin 400 MB hard drives. I stopped using it when Windows 95 hit the streets. The boot time was not acceptable. But, as pointed out elsewhere, with a different operating system it could be a nice little workhorse in a system. |
